Arba Minch town is situated about 220 miles south of Ethiopia's capiltal, Addis Ababa. It is accessible by road and by air. The town boasts a modern well equipped university, an airport of international standards, and a wide range of hotels. Tourist prices start around US$20.00 for a double room with hot shower.
Arba Minch comprises of two main districts known as Sikela and Shecha. Down town Sikela is the more industrial side of town and commercial centre. Shecha, at an altitude of around 1300 meters on the escarpment between the great lakes Abaya and Chamo, has a breezier climate and is more residential. Most of the Administrative buildings are located in Shecha. The two sides of town are linked by regular shuttle bus and taxi services. Arba Minch is the main town en route to the Ginka and the Omo Valley.
